The Quote...
This quote was from the short story, "The Sniper". It is not only the last sentence in the book but the most impacting sentence in the whole story. At this point in the story, the main republican sniper has been shot at and fires off a round at the other sniper in defense. He hits and kills the opposing sniper. And then, he decides to go over and look to see who he has killed. This is when he realizes he has killed his own brother. This quote was unexpected and truly a shocking surprise when I read it. It revealed a very impacting image of the two snipers at the end of their face-off. Very thought provoking way to end this short story!
